Why StoffOS now has rounded corners

The StoffOS were square at the beginning, but today they are rounded. I'll tell you how that came about here.

In spring 2021, I decided to go with the square model of the StoffOS for aesthetic and zero waste reasons. At first, I had no idea about chain stitching and had even considered making the product without edging or chain stitching. The interlock jersey from which the StoffOS are made does not fray because it is made differently than normal jersey and cannot form runs. Nevertheless, the finished product did not look good, although I liked the idea of using less machines.

In order to test the StoffOS model without linking, a few meters of the knitted fabric from our first supplier in Turkey were sent to Poland. Contact was made through Rabe Moden and I received accurately cut pieces of fabric back. The experts were impressed by how well the special machine in Poland had worked. Despite this, there were sometimes minimal fringes that formed during washing, but these could be shortened without the material unraveling.

A product developer and quality manager at Rabe Moden strongly recommended that I have the chain stitching done, as customers had already had problems with tiny threads forming. They hadn't dared to simply cut them off. A turn-up or rolled hem was out of the question for cost reasons and because it would stiffen the material.

After long threads sometimes formed on the corners of the first supplier's fabrics after washing, my new supplier in India recommended a rounded type of binding to rule out possible complaints. In the first product line from Turkey, the binding had partially come loose, which fortunately only led to a few complaints. Fortunately, the affected cloths were sent as replacements.

The corners that are automatically cut off during the chain linking process are recycled directly at Dibella India in India and reused. Although my husband prefers the previous products because of their smaller volume, I am very satisfied with the quality and durability of the new products, which are now 2 grams heavier.

Developing my StoffOS products has taught me the importance of paying careful attention to details such as binding and hemming to ensure quality, durability and customer satisfaction.
